Facilities and Equipment: Additional Information

Orlando, Florida

Use of the Facilities and Equipment
The Central Florida Fire Academy is a consortium of local fire agencies. On any one day, in addition to the recruit training going on, one or more units from the consortium will be on site for in-service training. Their activities include company officers conducting routine in-service training, pump operations, rappelling practice, and agency hiring assessments.

While members of the consortium have priority in the use of the facilities, other agencies may rent the facilities on an "as available" basis. The portable maze, portable tower, and other mobile equipment are also available when not in use by the consortium members. For information on this, call 407-855-3281.

Location
The Fire Academy is located on the southern end of a public technical training school (Mid Florida Tech), next to good access roads. It borders a major thoroughfare and is surrounded by commercial properties – an ideal location when smoke and noise are produced in training.

Fire Extinguisher Pit
The fire extinguisher pit is for use with limited amounts of fuel in each pan. Industrial personnel, firefighter recruits and others can use this universally friendly training prop.
