The Florida Department of Education requires that all EMT students must demonstrate reading, language and math skills at a 10th grade level or higher. This may be accomplished by taking the TABE test, Survey Level D. The charge for the test is included in your Fire Academy application fee. You need not take the test if you have earned and can present an AA, AS or higher college degree from an accredited college or university. Practice
